A survey of Canadian youth has found sex-ed curriculums lacks practical knowledge and skills to help them prepare for safe sex.
"Sex Lives Report" has found a historic surge in sexually transmitted infections is underway, and that there has been an alarming drop in condom use since 2020, from more than half always using condoms then, to less than a quarter now.
The organization behind the report, "Lets Stop Aids," is pushing for updated curriculum that includes LGBTQ and 2-Spirit relationships, and how to prevent and treat STIs.
As health reporter Katherine Ward explains, the report also suggests more young people are engaging in riskier behaviour.
