On the occasion of the 73rd Republic Day on Wednesday, Chief Minister Hemant Soren began a petrol subsidy scheme from Dumka, following the Centre's similar move. He also promised a state-of-the-art cultural museum and convention center for the district regarded as Jharkhand's second capital.
