As people came together Thursday to honour veterans, some events in B.C. were marred by protests in opposition to COVID-19 health measures and vaccinations.

In Kelowna, as a Remembrance Day ceremony concluded, a woman set up a microphone to speak about COVID-19 restrictions, prompting incensed veterans to challenge her. And in Kamloops, anti-vaccine protesters gathered at the Old Cenotaph, where some residents attended without realizing the purpose of the gathering.

As Catherine Urquhart reports, the protests in both communities, as well as graffiti that defaced a memorial in Cranbrook, have left residents angered over what they say is disrespectful of what the day stands for.
