Tornadoes struck the French villages of Bihucourt and Hendecourt-lès-Cagnicourt on Sunday, causing extensive damage to buildings and leaving people without power.
The tornadoes, seen as very rare events for the country, formed in a matter of minutes with winds above 200 kilometres-per-hour. It tore roofs off buildings, damaged vehicles and littered the streets with debris.
"We will clean-up, that's going to take up most of the week," one Bihucourt resident told reporters.
According to local authorities, one person suffered minor injuries while 150 people were temporarily moved to emergency accommodation.
