Rain-Ravaged Andhra Pradesh: Dozens Of Villages Cut Off

Following breach in the historic Ryala Cheruvu bund or reservoir, people from 18 villages have been evacuated to relief centres. Alert was issued in Chitoor district to evacuate after a pond's water reached warning level and started leaking. This is a very old bund which was built during the rule of Vijayanagara empire, just 10 km from Tirupati, thousands of villagers living downstream have been evacuated in an emergency.
