On Thursday morning, the River Sutlej experienced a significant increase in flood levels, prompting authorities to issue warnings about a potential further rise in water levels. The inflow at Ganda Singh Wala, a border village in the Kasur district, reached a staggering 114,260 cusecs.

As a result, approximately 20 villages have been cut off from nearby areas, necessitating immediate rescue efforts by the district administration. Rescue camps have been set up in Chanda Singh, Mahi Wala, and other affected villages to provide assistance to the affected individuals and their livestock.

To tackle the crisis, Emergency Services Secretary Rizwan Naseer has revealed that 83 boats and more than 300 rescue officials are presently engaged in operations within the flood-affected region. This initiative follows the directive of Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, who instructed the deployment of an additional 55 boats and their operators from neighboring districts adjacent to Kasur.
