Reaction came in in the moments after a jury found former recording star R. Kelly guilty of racketeering in his sex-trafficking trial.
Kelly was convicted Monday after decades of avoiding criminal responsibility for numerous allegations of misconduct with young women and children.
He faces a sentence of 10 years to potentially life in prison.
The lawyer for Kelly, Deveraux Cannick, spoke after the singer was convicted and said that "of course" Kelly was disappointed. He also expected that they would appeal the guilty verdict.
Lawyer Gloria Allred, who represented some of the victims in the trial, said that after practicing law for 47 years "of all the predators I have pursued, Mr. Kelly is the worst."
Jacquelyn Kasulis, the acting U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of New York, also spoke Monday. Kasulis said the verdict "forever brands" the singer "as a predator" and said he used his fame and fortune "to prey on the young, the vulnerable and the voiceless." She also said the jury delivered a "powerful message to men like R. Kelly" that justice would find them "no matter how long it takes."
