Russian President Vladimir Putin made an official state visit to the Kyrgyz capital Bishkek, on Thursday This was his first known trip abroad since the International Criminal Court issued a warrant for his arrest.
During the visit, Putin emphasized Russia's significance as a major trade partner and the largest investor in the Kyrgyz economy. He expressed his expectation of the expansion of military and defense co-operation between the two countries.
Putin also participated in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Ata-Beyit memorial complex near Bishkek in honour of the victims of the Soviet authorities, as well as those killed in Kyrgyzstan's 2010 revolution.
