Russian President Vladimir Putin claimed Monday that Western countries hurt their own economies through the sanctions imposed on Russia for its invasion of Ukraine.
Speaking on the state of his own nation's economy, Putin said inflation was stabilizing and that retail demand had normalized. However, he called on the government and Central Bank to help "support our people," saying people could feel the impact of inflation on their budgets.
Putin said as of April 8, state inflation stood at 17.5 per cent.
