Angry scenes have marred celebrations marking New Zealand’s national day. Protesters heckled and booed leaders of the new coalition government, unhappy with its plans to roll back policies that benefit Indigenous people. The holiday, known as Waitangi Day, is the anniversary of the treaty signed between Maori chiefs and representatives of the British crown 184 years ago.
