A van carrying Argentina’s president was attacked by a group of protesters as he visited the wildfire-ravaged region of Patagonia. The activists were reportedly protesting against plans to resume open-pit mining in the area.
Dozens of demonstrators got up close and personal with President Alberto Fernandez during his visit to a community center in the southern province of Chubut. The protesters kicked and threw rocks at the minibus carrying Fernandez, and even tried to get into the vehicle.
The president escaped the sudden clash safely, although some of the van's windows were broken during the incident.
