A landmark national security trial is now underway in Hong Kong for pro-democracy activist Jimmy Lai, who ran Apple Daily — the now-defunct Chinese-language publications that supported Hong Kong's pro-democracy protests in 2019.

His son, Sebastien Lai, is calling it an “absolute sham.”
