Prime Time With Ravish Kumar - November 02, 2020: During the Assembly polls of 2010 as well as 2015, percentage of turnout of women voters was higher than men in Bihar. However as per data released by the Election Commission, turnout percentage of women voters in the first phase of election in 2020 was marginally lower. With measures such as alcohol ban among others by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar seen as pro-women, women voters play a crucial role in swinging votes in his favour. The second phase of assembly elections in Bihar where 94 seats were up for polls -- saw 53.51 per cent people voting amid the coronavirus outbreak, down from the 56.9 per cent in 2015. This round featured BJP's strongholds in north Bihar. The key candidates included Tejashwi Yadav - the Chief Ministerial candidate of the opposition alliance of the Rashtriya Janata Dal, the Left and the Congress. By-elections for 54 assembly seats across 10 states were also held today. (Audio in Hindi)
