Prime Time With Ravish Kumar - June 29, 2021: Ravish Kumar asks whether the BJP has changed its earlier stand on middlemen. PM Modi as well as several BJP leaders had been critical of middlemen while promoting the new farm laws. Farmers, mainly from Punjab, Haryana and western Uttar Pradesh, have been camping at Delhi’s borders for seven months in protest against the three central laws. Enacted in September, the three farm laws have been projected by the Centre as major reforms in the agriculture sector which will remove the middlemen and allow farmers to sell their produce anywhere in the country. However, a recent tweet by Uttar Pradesh’s BJP advertises a scheme offering up to Rs 3 lakh death benefit for 'mandi' agents and traders. (Audio in Hindi)
