"Preposterous": Mayorkas responds to allegations Trump shooting was an "inside job"

U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas said during the White House briefing on Monday that allegations of the attempted shooting of former U.S. president Donald Trump being an “inside job” were “preposterous.”

Mayorkas also said that it was “dangerous to propagate rumours that are so unequivocally false and provocative” and that the goal now is “to tamp down the rhetoric in this country.”

“There have been statements by many people with respect to what did and did not occur. We're going to let the investigation and the review deliver the factual findings and will act upon those we rely upon local law enforcement and other assets, resources and capabilities every day,” Mayorkas said.
