Pope Francis told reporters on Sunday that the Vatican was involved in a peace mission to try and end the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, but would not provide more details, saying once more is made public, he would comment.
"I think that peace is always made by opening channels. You can never achieve peace through closure. This is not easy," he said.
Francis has been outspoken on the war in Ukraine since it began in February 2022, and has repeatedly expressed a wish to act as a broker. However, his offer has yet to produce any breakthroughs.
