Police officer commandeers bicycle to apprehend suspect

Video released by West Midlands Police in Birmingham, England shows the moment that an officer commandeered a civilian's bike in order to pursue a suspect on August 31.

The video, recorded by PC Tom Harris’s body-worn camera, shows the moment he approaches the cyclist near Hob Moor Road and asks to borrow his bicycle.

He is then seen pursuing and ultimately arresting the suspect, whom police allege is a domestic abuser wanted over a breach of his bail conditions.

“He spent a night in our cells before appearing in court the next day when his bail was revoked and he was remanded into prison,” West Midlands Police said.

"The kind-hearted member of the public was quickly reunited with his bike”.
