Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Thursday blamed former army chief Qamar Javed Bajwa and former ISI director-general Faiz Hameed for orchestrating no-confidence motion against the former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government.
In an interview with a private news channel, Fazl said that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) led the charge for the no-confidence vote, while generals Bajwa and Faiz Hameed were allegedly influencing the parties involved.
Fazl emphasised the importance of non-interference in political matters, while acknowledging the respect for all state institutions.
He also suggested that if the establishment believed the general elections were fair, then the narrative aligned with the events of May 9 would be dispelled.
Fazl, in response to a query, highlighted the differences with the PTI but suggested that these could be resolved through dialogue.
Regarding the coalition efforts led by PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif, Fazl noted that the PML-N aimed to form a government with 66 seats in order to salvage the country's future. He, however, expressed skepticism about the efficacy of this parliament, suggesting that decisions and policies would be dictated from elsewhere.
Asked about ongoing protests by his party against rigging in the elections, Fazl asserted that they would persist until resolutions were reached, predicting a revolutionary outcome as a consequence of these protests.
