The Philippines' election commission is set to decide whether to bar frontrunner Ferdinand Marcos Jr, also known as Bongbong, from this year’s presidential election.
The son of late leader Ferdinand Marcos is popular among many voters and it is said that the Marcoses will give away gold bars and other treasure if Bongbong becomes president – treasure that fact-checkers and journalists say does not exist.
But it is not disinformation that may get Bongbong Marcos disqualified from this year’s presidential race. During his time as governor of Ilcos Norte he was convicted of tax evasion.
