The state-owned oil marketing companies (OMCs) has raised petrol and diesel prices amid the deepening Covid-19 cases. After the current price hike, petrol and diesel in the national capital will cost Rs 90.74 per litre and Rs 81.12 per litre respectively.

It is to be noted that petrol and diesel prices are fixed on the basis of freight charges, local taxes, and VAT. Petrol and diesel prices vary from state to state due to taxations imposed by central and state governments.

Presently, fuel prices are the highest in Mumbai among the four metro cities. Petrol and diesel prices vary across states in India due to the value-added tax.
