In an update on Monday, Lt. Col. George Bivens of the Pennsylvania State Police outlined a “change in direction” of the ongoing manhunt for escaped murderer Danelo Souza Cavalcante, who has captured international headlines after “crab-walking” out of jail 11 days earlier.

Bivens said that authorities have moved from a “containment model” to “utilizing a variety of investigative resources” for investigators' allocation of resources and the daily focus. He also added that the public can expect to see an increased police presence in areas of Chester County, and to not be alarmed.

In his remarks, Bivens added that the reward amount for information has increased by $5000 to $25,000, and that he believes Cavalcante is still in the state of Pennsylvania due to the escaped inmate’s lack of resources and additional undisclosed information.

Bivens urged the public to check security cameras as well as keep buildings and vehicles locked, and to contact authorities immediately with information that may be relevant to the case.
