He was also a terror with people “unable to defend themselves,” Caro wrote in his biography of L.B.J. “Storming into a hotel kitchen, a towering figure holding a large steak in one hand and waving it in a cook’s face, he raged: ‘Who told you you were a cook? Didn’t you ever hear of cutting the fat off? I’ve never seen so much fat on a steak in my life.’ ”"
