On Monday, a significant number of JUI-F activists and supporters managed to enter the Red Zone by scaling a gate and overcoming obstacles, causing the police and FC personnel to step aside. Armed with clubs, these activists broke open a locked gate to gain access to the restricted area, following failed negotiations between Maulana Fazl and PML-N leaders regarding the protest's location.
Today (Monday), the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) made the decision to hold a sit-in in Islamabad, but the specific location, whether outside the Supreme Court of Pakistan or elsewhere, has not been finalized yet. Leading the sit-in on behalf of the PDM will be Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the chief of the Jamiat Ulema Islam (JUIF) and the head of the PDM, who announced that the sit-in would take place outside the Supreme Court.
Yesterday, the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) submitted a request to the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Islamabad, seeking permission for the sit-in outside the Supreme Court. Additionally, the JUI-F requested security arrangements for the participants of the sit-in.
JUI spokesperson Aslam Ghori confirmed that a request had been submitted to the DC of Islamabad for holding the sit-in outside the Supreme Court. Ghori emphasized the peaceful nature of their protest and declined any change in the planned venue, despite government ministers attempting to relocate the sit-in.
During a meeting with Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah made an appeal to change the location of the protest sit-in. However, the decision regarding the sit-in's location will be made on Monday morning.
Meanwhile, caravans from various political parties, including Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan People's Party (PPP), and Jamiat Ulema Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), have started arriving in Islamabad from different parts of the country, particularly Punjab, to join the protest sit-in in front of the Supreme Court. These caravans, consisting of workers and activists, have departed from various locations such as Gujranwala, Mian Channu, Rojhan, Jampur, Khanewal, Toba Tek Singh, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Hafizabad, Jahanian, Kamalia, and Mianwali.
