Baltimore acting police commissioner Richard Worley announced Thursday the arrest of Jason Dean Billingsley in connection with the September 25th murder of Pava LaPere.

Billingsley was taken into custody in Boise on Wednesday.

“All the indications are that this was not a random act of violence,” said Worley.

Through witness testimony and surveillance, police were able to develop the identity of the suspect and a warrant was issued for Billingsley within hours on Tuesday.

“We don't know if there were any connections previously to Miss LaPierre or Mr. Billingsley. This is what we will continue to investigate, as well as the incident on Edmondson Avenue," Worley told reporters Wednesday.

The founder of a Baltimore tech startup was found dead inside her apartment complex shortly after she was reported missing Monday morning, police said. LaPere’s body showed signs of blunt-force trauma, Baltimore police disclosed in a press release on Tuesday.
