Former British prime minister Boris Johnson testified on Wednesday that he, "hand on heart," didn't lie to lawmakers when previously addressing Parliament about the "partygate incident."

This took place in 2020 when Johnson disregarded pandemic lockdown measures to throw a party with other government officials.

In a statement, Johnson said, "the evidence conclusively shows that I did not knowingly or recklessly mislead Parliament." He continued: "the committee has produced not a shred of evidence to show that I have."

In an interim report this month, the committee — made up of Conservative and opposition lawmakers — said evidence strongly suggested that it would have been "obvious" to Johnson that gatherings in his Downing Street offices in 2020 and 2021 broke COVID-19 lockdown rules.
