As the so-called 'European Freedom Convoy' against COVID-19 mandates nears Paris, French police are urging calm and warning of heavy fines and further punishment for those who attend the banned protest.

French Prime Minister Jean Castex had already warned anyone blocking the streets of Paris would be arrested. Keeping to that word, police forces and armoured vehicles moved into place at the capital Friday, as the convoy was expected to arrive.

As Crystal Goomansingh reports, protesters are pushing ahead, motivated by the disruptive Canadian movement that inspired them.
