Palestinians face tight Israeli security restrictions going into Al-Aqsa for Friday prayers

Jerusalem’s Old City remained in a state of tension on Friday as Israel continued its military offensive in Gaza, following a series of deadly Hamas-led attacks and abductions on Oct. 7 in southern Israel.

On Friday, few Muslim worshipers were permitted to enter the Al-Aqsa compound for Friday prayers due to Israeli security restrictions.

But despite the security measures and tension, there were no immediate reports of clashes in the Old City, an area packed with holy sites revered by Muslims, Jews and Christians.
