A bus travelling from Rawalpindi to Gilgit-Baltistan veered into a ravine in Pakistan's far north early on Friday, resulting in the death of at least 20 people and the injury of 21 others, according to a local government spokesman.
The accident happened in the early hours, and the government launched a rescue operation to help the injured passengers, who were then taken to the hospital.
“I was sleeping in the rear seat of the bus. Suddenly, I woke up from the screams of passengers. When I gained consciousness, we were lying near the river,” said an injured man.
The cause of the accident is yet to be determined.
