दुबई पुलिस ने मार्च के मध्य में अपने भिक्षा-विरोधी अभियान की शुरुआत के बाद से अमीरात के विभिन्न हिस्सों में 319 भिखारियों (167 पुरुषों और 152 महिलाओं) को गिरफ्तार किया है। इनमें से नौ भिखारियों को ईद उल फितर के दौरान पकड़ा गया था। जनरल डिपार्टमेंट ऑफ क्रिमिनल इंवेस्टिगेशन के निदेशक मेजर जनरल जमाल सलेम अल जलाफ ने कहा कि 'भीख मांगना करुणा की एक गलत अवधारणा है' भीख विरोधी अभियान का उद्देश्य भिखारियों और सड़क पर चलने वालों की संख्या को कम करना है जो दूसरों की भावनाओं और सहानुभूति का फायदा उठाते हैं।

Dubai Police have arrested 319 beggars (167 males and 152 females) across different parts of the emirate, since the launch of their anti-begging campaign in mid-March. Nine of these beggars were apprehended during the Eid Al Fitr break. Major General Jamal Salem Al Jallaf, Director of the General Department of Criminal Investigations, stated that 'Begging is a Wrong Concept of Compassion' anti-begging campaign aims to reduce the number of beggars and street peddlers who exploit others' feelings and sympathy.
