Residents in Hong Kong and Tokyo, Japan expressed delight and pride on Monday, following Michelle Yeoh's historic win as the first Asian star to receive the Best Lead Actress award at the Oscars for her role in "Everything Everywhere All at Once."

Bess Ko, a 56-year-old Hong Kong native who has watched many of Yeoh's films, shared her excitement and happiness upon learning of the actress's win, while 28-year-old Annie Leung expressed pride in Yeoh's achievement and anticipation for her future work and appearances.

Meanwhile, in Tokyo, fans shared similar sentiment. The film was only recently released in Japan on March 3, and the Oscar news is sure to generate buzz and viewing interest across the country.

"I am really moved to hear that an Asian actress won the Academy Award for the first time," one Tokyo resident and film fan said, adding that she has yet to see the film but intends to do so following its success at the prestigious award ceremony held in Los Angeles.
