The opposition AIADMK in Tamil Nadu today held its first statewide protests against the ruling DMK government in the state, demanding fulfilment of its poll promises including the Rs 1,000 monthly allowance for women family heads, Rs 100 subsidy on LPG and cuts in fuel prices. Claiming that it would fulfil all its poll promises, the DMK pointed out that it has already cut petrol prices by Rs 3 a litre and wants the AIADMK to ask its ally - the BJP - to cut taxes on fuel which it argues will automatically bring down prices across the country. NDTV's Sam Daniel reports.
