An Ontario woman is speaking out after she says charges against her alleged abuser were dropped due to a backlog in provincial courts.

Cait Alexander added her voice to the many calls for justice system reform on Thursday.

“I have now spoken with countless women who have had their debilitating gender-based violence cases either thrown out or resolved with a peace bond,” she said.

Shallima Maharaj reports on the staggering court backlog and how it's impacting victims of domestic violence.
