An Ontario lawyer was shown in a video reciting the Proud Boys oath in a video posted to Telegram, an instant messaging app, which was shared on the same day the Canadian government placed the Proud Boys on its terrorist watchlist on February 3rd.

“I am a Western chauvinist who refuses to apologize for creating the modern world,” he said in the video, donning a MAGA hat.

Colin A. Browne, who according to the Northumberland County Law Association specializes in criminal and family law in Cobourg, says he is filing an appeal to the government's decision to place the group on the country's terrorist list and admits to being a member himself.

It is not illegal to be a member of a group on Canada’s terrorist list. But the Canadian Anti-Hate Network said it would be filing a complaint with the Law Society of Ontario.

The Proud Boys are described by the federal government as a neo-fascist organization that espouses a number of ideologies that include misogyny, Islamophobia, anti-Semitism and white supremacy.

The group is alleged to have played a key role in organizing and carrying out the Jan. 6th insurrection on the U.S. capitol.
