The Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) has received a strike mandate of 95 per cent, which allows the union to pressure the province with a potential strike at the bargaining table.
The union represents 80,000 educators, and the strike threat creates a new pressure point on the province’s education system.
The negotiations between the ETFO and the Ford government will continue, and the strike mandate sends a clear message to the government.
In response, the Minister of Education Stephen Lecce said he was disappointed and urged the ETFO to come to the table and reach a fair deal.
Global’s Colin D’Mello reports.
