The body of a woman was pulled from the rubble of a heritage building in Old Montreal on Sunday, after a large fire swept through the building last week.
Crews have begun dismantling the remaining structure with six people remaining unaccounted for. Officials say it will take several days, if not weeks, to identify any further victims as well as to extricate those remains.
Mayor Valérie Plante was on the scene Monday speaking about Airbnb’s – 12 of the 15 units in the building were Airbnb rentals – which is illegal in that particular borough of Montreal.
Brayden Jagger Haines reports.
