A painful train accident took place on Friday (June 2) evening in Balasore district of Odisha. A railway official said that several coaches of the Howrah-bound 12864 Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express derailed at Bahanga Bazar and fell on another track. "These derailed coaches collided with the 12841 Shalimar-Chennai Coromandel Express and its coaches also overturned," he said. The coaches of the Coromandel Express collided with a goods train after derailing, causing the goods train to overturn, he said. The accident came in the grip. Officials said that 207 people died in the accident while more than 900 people were injured. The accident took place at Bahanga Bazar station around 7.20 pm when the Coromandel Express was on its way to Chennai Central from Shalimar station near Kolkata, he said.Odisha Chief Secretary Pradeep Jena said 132 injured have been admitted to Soro, Gopalpur and Khantapada health centres. Have been admitted, while 47 people have been admitted to Balasore Medical College and Hospital. Around 50 people are feared dead in the accident, officials in Balasore district said. According to news agency PTI, several people were trapped in the derailed coaches and locals were helping emergency service personnel to rescue them. But due to darkness there were problems in the campaign. Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik directed Special Relief Secretary Satyavrat Sahu and Revenue Minister Pramila Malik to rush to the accident site, officials said.
ओडिशा के बालासोर जिले में शुक्रवार (2 जून) शाम दर्दनाक रेल हादसा हो गया. रेलवे के एक अधिकारी ने बताया कि हावड़ा जा रही 12864 बेंगलुरु-हावड़ा सुपरफास्ट एक्सप्रेस के कई डिब्बे बाहानगा बाजार में पटरी से उतर गए और दूसरी पटरी पर जा गिरे. उन्होंने कहा, ‘‘पटरी से उतरे ये डिब्बे 12841 शालीमार-चेन्नई कोरोमंडल एक्सप्रेस से टकरा गए और इसके डिब्बे भी पलट गए.’’ अधिकारी ने कहा कि कोरोमंडल एक्सप्रेस के डिब्बे पटरी से उतरने के बाद एक मालगाड़ी से टकरा गए, जिससे मालगाड़ी भी दुर्घटना की चपेट में आ गई.अधिकारियों ने बताया कि हादसे में 207 लोगों की मौत हुई है जबकि 900 से ज्यादा लोग घायल हुए हैं. उन्होंने बताया कि हादसा शाम को करीब 7.20 बजे बाहानगा बाजार स्टेशन पर तब हुआ जब कोरोमंडल एक्सप्रेस कोलकाता के नजदीक शालीमार स्टेशन से चेन्नई सेंट्रल जा रही थी.ओडिशा के मुख्य सचिव प्रदीप जेना ने कहा कि 132 घायलों को सोरो, गोपालपुर और खांटापाड़ा स्वास्थ्य केंद्रों में भर्ती कराया गया है, जबकि 47 लोगों को बालासोर मेडिकल कॉलेज और अस्पताल में भर्ती कराया गया है. बालासोर जिले के अधिकारियों ने बताया कि हादसे में करीब 50 लोगों के मारे जाने की आशंका है.न्यूज एजेंसी पीटीआई के मुताबिक, पटरी से उतरे डिब्बों में कई लोग फंस गए और स्थानीय लोग उन्हें बचाने के लिए आपातकालीन सेवा कर्मियों की मदद कर रहे थे, लेकिन अंधेरा होने की वजह से अभियान में दिक्कतें आईं. अधिकारियों ने कहा कि ओडिशा के मुख्यमंत्री नवीन पटनायक ने विशेष राहत सचिव सत्यव्रत साहू और राजस्व मंत्री प्रमिला मलिक को दुर्घटनास्थल पर जाने का निर्देश दिया.
