Kenya's Deputy President William Ruto has been declared the winner of the country's presidential election.
Almost a week after the country went to the polls and three hours after the results were supposed to be announced, the electoral commission said Ruto had won the top job.
He received just over 50 percent of the vote - less than two percent ahead of his rival, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Ruto is promising Kenyans radical economic reform and gender equity and is also calling for unity.
The African Union and European Union have previously deemed the vote fair and transparent.
However, Odinga's spokesman has alleged electoral offences and called the results "invalid".
