A Nova Scotia man with a fondness for feathers is turning heads on walking and hiking trails across the province. His mission in life is to give rescue birds a loving home.
Alex Hanes' fondness for feathers was fostered as a boy by his mother, which is why he rescues birds from families who can no longer care for them — some outliving their owners.
"They need somebody and I am their somebody. If they did not have me, who would they have?" Hanes asks.
Global’s Shelley Steeves has more of the touching story.
