1. Egyptian, Qatari and U.S. negotiators closed in on an extension of a four-day truce in Gaza that expires on Monday, Egyptian security sources said, amid rising international pressure to roll over a deal which has paused seven weeks of fighting.

2. A suspect was arrested in the shooting of three college students of Palestinian descent in Vermont, local police reported early on Monday, an attack under investigation as a suspected hate-motivated crime.

3. President Joe Biden will invoke a Cold War-era measure to boost investment in U.S. manufacturing of medicines and medical supplies that he has deemed important for national defense, the White House said.

4. The body of Rosalynn Carter, the former U.S. first lady who died on Nov. 19 at age 96, will lie in repose on Monday in Georgia, giving Americans the chance to pay their respects to the woman her husband, former President Jimmy Carter, called "an extension of myself.”
