During a visit to Paris on Friday, U.S. President Joe Biden met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, where Biden apologized for a weapons delay as Ukraine fights against Russia in its ongoing war.
“We are not going to walk away from you,” Biden said. “I apologize for those weeks of not knowing what was going on in terms of funding. And because we had trouble getting the bill that we had to pass to have the money from some our most conservative members who were holding it up.”
The Democratic leader’s apology comes after Zelenskyy criticized Western nations for taking too long to make critical aid decisions in May.
In addition to already-promised aid packages, Biden announced a fresh $225 million for Ukraine.
