Discussion on Current Political and Economic Scenario: Mr Kakar's name was finalised after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Leader of the Opposition Raja Riaz reached the consensus. Mr Riaz told media persons in Islamabad that he had a meeting with Mr Sharif and both agreed that the caretaker prime minister should be from a smaller province, should be apolitical and impartial. He said he had nominated Kakar for the caretaker PM slot.

Mr Riaz further said a summary had been sent to President Alvi after signing the same. The summary was signed both by Raja Riaz and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. A statement issued by Prime Minister House also confirmed the development. Kakar belongs to Balochistan.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor accepts resignations of 25 members of interim cabinet

In Pakistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Haji Ghulam Ali accepted the resignations of 25 members of the province’s interim cabinet in line with the directives issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) yesterday. Azam Khan, the interim Chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, requested that his cabinet members quit after receiving a letter from the ECP criticizing the politically related individuals in the government, which led to Haji Ghulam Ali’s decision.
Earlier, the ECP instructed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa interim Chief Minister to immediately denotify ministers, advisers and special assistants involved in politics. According to the notification, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor accepted the resignation of 14 ministers and 11 advisers and special assistants.
