Niger Prime Minister Ouhoumoudou Mahamadou, after surveying a school fire that left at least 20 preschool children dead, said on Wednesday that he would find and punish the perpetrators behind the fire if it is determined it was set deliberately.
"To lose such young children on the eve of Ramadan is really sad and all my condolences go to the family, we share their pain," he said.
The national fire chief said it was straw huts that caught fire and the children were trapped, calling the power of the fire "enormous."
