President Putin said tonight that the organisers of what he called the weekend's "rebellion" - would be brought to justice - and that any "blackmail" would be doomed to failure.

He was speaking after the man behind that rebellion - the mercenary boss Yevgeny Prigozhin - denied he'd planned to overthrow the government - but said many people were still supporting him.
