Sky News Europe correspondent, Adam Parsons, witnessed the rescue of hundreds of people from a hopelessly dilapidated and overloaded fishing boat. The Mediterranean passage is the most dangerous migrant route in the world, with around 1,000 deaths already this year.

The Geo Barents, along with other charity rescue boats, has been criticised by Italy's government, which claims that it encourages migrants to try to cross the Mediterranean, knowing that there will be a boat to help them along the way.
