On Friday morning, April 5, an earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale hit near New York City, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

Mayor Eric Adams of New York City stated that there were no reports of injuries.

The quake caused buildings to shake up and down the East Coast, surprising residents in an area that rarely experiences notable seismic activity. People from Baltimore to Boston reported feeling shaking and rumbling, with some running outside to try to locate the source of the disturbance.
