New Mexico State Police have released new details, with video, of the fatal shooting of an officer that took place February.
On February 4, New Mexico State Police Officer Darian Jarrott initiated a traffic stop. Upon request, the driver of the white Chevrolet pickup exited from the vehicle, holding an AR-15-style rifle, and fired at least one shot at Jarrott. The officer attempted to evade the shooter by ducking, but was fatally struck after the gunman fired two more shots.
The gunman initially attempted to escape, but was himself fatally shot during a gun fight with a group of officers dispatched to apprehend him.
