A new research institute has just been launched in Liverpool in the UK to prevent future outbreaks of viruses.
Called the Pandemic Institute, its scientists say it will work with other similar centres around the world to come up with vaccines to possible threats months earlier.
The US maker of a rapid antigen test Innova Medical Group donated $14m towards the facility.
Al Jazeera's Neave Barker reports from Liverpool, the UK.
