New allegations surface about contractor linked to Neskantaga water crisis

They may finally be home, but members of Neskantaga First Nation still won’t be able to drink the water.

The small community returned to their northern Ontario home this weekend after a 60-day evacuation in Thunder Bay. The community’s water was shut off in the fall after an oily sheen was discovered in the reservoir.

Upgrades to the community’s water system were scheduled to be completed in 2018, but they are still waiting, nearly three years later.

And now, an investigation by Global News, APTN and the Institute for Investigative Journalism has found that Neskantaga is not the only First Nation to encounter issues with contractors. Katherine Ward has more.
