Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu urged Elon Musk to strike a balance between protecting free expression and fighting hate speech at a meeting Monday, following weeks of controversy over antisemitic content on Musk’s social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.

“All I can say is that I hope you find within the confines of the First Amendment the ability to stop not only antisemitism, or roll it back as best you can, but any collective hatred of a people,” Netanyahu said.

In response, Musk said he was against antisemitism and anything that “promotes hate and conflict,” repeating previous statements that X would not promote hate speech.

Earlier this month Musk attacked the Anti-Defamation League, accusing the non-profit that works to fight antisemitism of causing a 67-per cent decrease in ad revenue on X.
