Authorities in Nepal on Monday had recovered or located the bodies of all but one of 22 people who were on board a plane that crashed into a Himalayan mountainside on Sunday, according to officials.

Two Germans, four Indians and 16 Nepalis were on board a flight which crashed 15 minutes after taking off Sunday from the town of Pokhara, 125 km west of Kathmandu. The flight had been headed to the popular pilgrimage site of Jomsom.

Nepali soldiers and rescue workers had retrieved 20 bodies from the wreckage, strewn across a steep slope at an altitude of around 4420 m.

Hampered by the difficult terrain and poor weather, the search parties were trying to recover another body that had been spotted, officials said.

The government said it had set up a five-member panel to investigate the cause of the crash and suggest preventive measures for the future.
